Metocean Services International (Pty) Ltd (MSI) was launched on 1 September 2003 bringing together a management team with over 30 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry at that time. The aim of MSI was not only to provide the industry with an alternative metocean service provider, but by utilising the latest state of the art equipment and providing professional, cost effective global solutions, to continue to work towards becoming a supplier of choice. .jpg)
The company was formed by three former colleagues of Thales GeoSolutions’ Metocean Services Division. Stefan Stimson (then the Division Manager), Bruce Spolander (Operations Manager) and Sidney Bilski (Sales & Marketing Manager) formed MSI bringing together different strengths and backgrounds important in making a successful company. As well as being Directors of MSI, Stefan, Bruce and Sidney run the company in all aspects, including undertaking fieldwork. It is firmly believed that this is the best way to keep up to date with the latest equipment and to ensure the projects are conducted according to stringent procedures and to the highest level possible.
Following a period of initial growth in the 1st 6 months since formation, MSI secured two major contracts whilst attending an exhibition in London (Oceanology 04). One of these contracts was with TDI Brooks / Shell in Nigeria and the other for Romona / BP in Sakhalin, Russia. MSI has since managed to secure many other contracts globally ranging from single month contracts to 3 year long ones. Services are provided to a multitude of clients from major construction companies to oil & gas giants, from survey companies to professional consultants. Moreover, MSI recognises the importance of education resulting in the company conducting several courses at the University of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, as well as providing training courses for government organisations.
Being based in Cape Town, with its numerous direct international air links, has allowed MSI to spread across the globe proven in the projects already conducted in over 23 countries including South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Madagascar, Uganda, Nigeria, Gabon, Yemen, United Arab Emirates, India, Turkey, Cyprus, Qatar, Vietnam, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, United Kingdom, St. Helena, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Norway..jpg)
Ensuring that the fantastic growth experienced to date continues, MSI has also established a new office in Australia in 2006. With excellent trade and air links within the region, the establishment of the office in Hobart was a firm commitment to the company's plans to build on the success already enjoyed in Asia and to expand into the Australian market itself.
