From 1993 to 1997, Bruce was a tutor at the University of Cape Town in the Department of Oceanography, which included managing all practical components of the 2nd year degree course. In 1997, Bruce joined the Environmental and Metocean Services Division of Thales GeoSolutions, initially as a field scientist, but quickly become the head of data processing for the Division and became involved in project management. In 2001, Bruce was promoted to Operations Manager and was given overall responsibility for the project management of all of Thales' metocean projects worldwide. |

Qualified as a Cat-A Hydrographer, Stefan worked for Marconi UDI (1989) and for the National Marine Dredging Company in Abu Dhabi (1990) before joining Racal Survey (now Thales GeoSolutions) in 1991 as part of their international field staff pool. Apart from 3 months in China (relief Area Surveyor), Stefan spent the majority of the time from 1992 to 1996 based in Egypt. Initially as field staff, Stefan quickly moved into the office and took over the post of Operations Manager in 1993. In 1996, Stefan was transferred back to the UK and took on the role of Operations Manager for the International Services Division of Racal, running all their projects in West and Southern Africa including vessels and their offices in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea. In 1998, Stefan and this role was relocated to Cape Town where he was tasked with establishing the Cape Town office as the African headquarters for Racal's survey business.In January 2001, Stefan was transferred to the Environmental and Metocean Services division and was promoted to Business Unit Manager with full P&L responsibility for all of Thales' metocean business around the world. He remained in this position until he left Thales in October 2003.In November 2005, Stefan moved to Australia to establish MSI's office there and to build the business within Australasia. |

From 1995 to 1998, Sidney worked for the the Centre for Marine Studies, a multi-disciplinary marine consultancy at the University of Cape Town. As Operations Manager, Sidney was responsible for soliciting, managing and maintaining financial control for all projects. From 1998 to 2003, Sidney was employed by Thales GeoSolutions, initially as a field oceanographer but quickly moving into a sales and Marketing role. In 2001, Sidney was promoted to Sales Manager and given full responsibility for all sales and marketing aspects of Thales metocean business world wide. This included the preparation and submission of all tenders as well as responsibility for the preparation of budgets and sales plans. Sidney has experience in a range of marine-related disciplines including oceanography, marine biology, impact assessment, oceanographic equipment and data processing. |

Alan worked for Thales GeoSolutions (formerly Racal) from 2001 until February 2004 as an Oceanographic Engineer. In this position he conducted field campaigns and occasionally acted as project manager for numerous projects ranging from West Africa to Sakhalin, Russia. Prior to working for Thales, Alan worked as an Environmental Technician for the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Namibia and prior to that he was Chief Oceanographic Technician at the Sea Fisheries Research Institute in South Africa. |

Simon has been involved with offshore oceanographic operations since 1991. His previous employers include coastal engineers, construction companies, survey companies and, prior to studying for his M.Sc. and working for MSI on a contract basis, Simon was an oceanographic engineer for Thales GeoSolutions. In addition to his experience with oceanographic operations, Simon is a fully qualified commercial and scientific diver. |

Craig worked for Thales GeoSolutions (formerly Racal) from 1998 until October 2003. He started out at as a field oceanographer, a position he held for two years before becoming office based and assisting in Metocean sales and marketing and project operations. Whilst working in the field, Craig worked offshore South Africa, Mozambique, U.A.E, Brazil and India; deploying, servicing and retrieving oceanographic equipment. He also processed and analysed data before presenting the results to clients and making the necessary recommendations. In 2002, Craig was promoted to the position of QHSE co-ordinator for all African operations (Survey and Metocean). He designed and implemented a quality management system to ISO9001: 2000 requirements at the South African company and had begun rolling the system out into Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea before he left Thales in October 2003. |

Lionel is an oceanographic engineer / data processor with MSI. Although initially joining the company purely as a data processor, he began assisting with fieldwork and has already completed projects in Angola, Kenya, Madagascar, Uganda and Norway. He is currently completing his M.Sc. in physical oceanography at the University of Cape Town. |

Jason joined MSI on the 1st December 2008 as a Field Engineer after completing his Masters Degree of Technology in Oceanography from Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He also has a National Diploma in Oceanography. Jason has experience in aquaculture, working for Capricorn Fisheries and AquaH20, and in physical measurements from his work with Bayworld, MCM, BCLME and Fugro. A qualified commercial diver, Jason is also interested in electronics and marine aquaculture. |
CASSIDY BLOCH

Cassidy joined MSI on the 1st Jan 2009 as Data Processor. Cassidy studied at the University of Cape Town where she gained an Honours degree in Oceanography and a BSc degree in Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences. She joins us with experience with CTDs, XBTs and water sampling, as well as with a background of research projects and computer modelling. Cassidy replaces Candice Hall who, sadly for MSI, recently emigrated to the USA . We believe, however, that Cassidy is an ideal replacement and a welcome addition to our energetic and dynamic team. In addition to her marine qualifications, Cassidy holds a private helicopters licence. |

Cobus Rossouw is a director of Zietsman Lloyd & Hemsted (Pty) Ltd, specialising in Marine and Coastal data analysis. He has 10 years experience in engineering with a distinct specialization in coastal engineering. His experience includes marine data analysis, wave transformation studies, design of ocean outfalls, marine pipelines and floating mooring systems. Other areas of expertise include Project Management, Design co-ordination, construction supervision and co-ordination, Hydraulics as well as Port Engineering: Port planning, layout, navigation and vessel motions studies. Cobus holds both Bachelor and Masters degrees in civil and coastal Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch. He is also a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa as well as a member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers. He recently completed wave transformation studies for the design and installation of new export pipelines for PetroSA at Mossel Bay, South Africa; Evaluation of the nearshore wave climate inside Luderitz Bay, Namibia; Design Waves for the anchoring of the flow lines to the FPSO, Terra Nova, North Atlantic. He also prepared Expert Witness Reports regarding offshore and nearshore wave and wind climate for court cases in South Africa and Canada. |
