The
MS-310 is based on a new concept in which the conductance of the sample is
simultaneously compared with the conductance of a reference. Every sample
is therefore standardized, and the standard itself is enclosed in glass to
preserve the integrity of measurement for weeks. This
dual cell innovation removes the need for highly stable bath
temperatures, and the cells are surrounded by a well stirred oil bath
to ensure thermal uniformity.
The
MS-310 provides oceanographers with a reliable shipboard method to verify
the performance of sophisticated modern CTD instruments. By
giving a direct measurement of RT against the reference
it gives a rapid confirmation of accuracy of a CTD with low operating
costs.
The
instrument has been developed in collaboration with the Marine
Hydrophysical Institute (
Ukraine
), and it complements laboratory salinometers.

The RBR data buoy serves as a rugged
and versatile system for monitoring of physical, chemical, and biological
properties of ocean, coastal, and inland waters. This package offers a
complete turnkey solution built on RBR's high-accuracy sensors,
third-party instrumentation, weather sensors, and telemetry options.
The
standard RBR data buoy consists of a 1.75m UV stabilized polyethylene,
foam-filled hull manufactured by Tideland
Signal Corporation (Sentinel SB-138P). Other hull
configurations may be used
depending on the deployment and instrumentation requirements.
The
RBR data buoy can measure:
- Wind speed & Direction
- Temperature (SST & Air)
- Barometric Pressure
- Compass (3-axis tilt &
heading)
- Conductivity (Salinity)
- Thermistor chains
- Fluorometer
- Turbidity
- Dissolved Oxygen
- more...
An RBR DBC-100 controller unit
collects data from all sensors, including weather and RBR oceanographic
sensors. Data are logged to internal removable MMC Flash card (up to 2GB
capacity) and may be offloaded at any time via the telemetry link or
USB2.0 connection
RBR offers telemetry options to suit
the particular deployment environment; these include:
- RF Modem (Spread Spectrum) - for
line of sight applications
- GSM/CDMA Modems - where coverage
is available
- Satellite Modems - for remote
locations
