MSI Make It To 30 With the Award Of A Current Measurement Programme in Tanzania

Metocean Services International (MSI) has been awarded a current measurement programme by Alpha in Tanzania. This project marks the 30th country of operations since the company’s inception in 2003 and involves deployment of 5 current moorings between mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

For the measurements, MSI deployed 3 moorings fitted with acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCPs) and 2 moorings fitted with Nortek Aquadopp current meters. Water depths at the locations vary from 20m to 60m.

Operations were conducted from the vessel MV Solstar and measurements are expected to last for at least 30 days. The data will be used to assist with engineering design of a 132 kva submarine cable from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar.

Formed in 2003, MSI provides the entire range of oceanographic and meteorological services internationally to the oil and gas industry, coastal engineers, dredging companies and port authorities. MSI has a management team that brings together over 50 years of experience in the industry. With offices in South Africa and Australia and access to the latest state of the art equipment, this project results in MSI now having successfully conducted operations in 30 countries since inception.
